We’re so excited Samantha and Michael's San Antonio wedding is featured on Martha Stewart Weddings! S + M’s wedding was a dream to design. The couple’s initial vision was a moody, dramatic and romantic palette. Drawing inspiration from a floral watercolor that hung in Samantha’s home, we selected an unconventional but beautiful blend of dusty blue-gray, deep navy, rich plum and berry, and tiny hints of blush and green. The watercolor texture carried over into other elements of design—from the interior of the Southern Fried Paper envelopes to the custom-painted ombré blue escort card display. Samantha envisioned a showstopping display of vibrant freesia hanging from her reception ceiling, and our team dip-dyed each blossom to create the dramatic depth of the installation. To balance, we settled upon simpler florals for the tablescapes, as well as traditional silver flatware and delicate light gray lace-patterned chargers. From ceremony to reception, we strove for this harmony of classic and whimsical: you’ll see it in the blend of stately woods and undone romantic florals; in the contrast of simple and clean lines with flowing fabrics and loose ribbon; and in the medley of androgyny and femininity with colors, textures, and shapes.
